An independent voice in poetry & prose

I’m Lioren Hale.I write the small things
that stay with us.

Poems, short fiction, and essays about the world close at hand—and the worlds a sentence can open.

Welcome.

Words by Lioren Hale

A room changes when the light moves. A familiar street holds a different story at dusk. I’m interested in the quiet details that ask us to look again.

This is a home for poetry and prose: a place to follow an image, spend time with a character, or let a line leave its door open.

Lioren Hale is the independent pen name used for the writing published here.

A short poem / Original writing

At the window

Morning leaves a square of light
on the table.
I set nothing there.
For once, that is enough.

Outside, a sparrow tries the air.
The branch lets go
and keeps its shape.

— Lioren Hale

Selected writing

A few lines.
A little room
to wonder.

A poem can begin with almost nothing: a patch of light, an ordinary object, a moment we would otherwise walk past.

This short piece opens the collection. New work will find its place here over time.
